about me

Hello! My name is Ana. I am a fibers artist and soon-to-be arts educator from Mexico City living in New York. I earned my MFA in Fibers from SCAD and now I am working towards the completion of an MA in Art Education (K-12) from the City College of New York CUNY.

As a maker, I consider myself to be introspective, experimental, and process-oriented. I often use painting techniques, textile surfaces and structures (such as weaving and stitching), and diverse materials and processes in the creation of unique pieces that explore personal subjects. As an art educator, I feel so grateful about having the opportunity to learn from such an amazing community of educators in NYC. In my teaching practice, I am interested about learning in what ways can fiber arts support the artistic growth of students.

Besides developing a consistent studio practice, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge about art and working with textiles in any art classroom and beyond.
