fiber artist | textile designer
The aesthetic development of my work is inspired by the creation of objects that evoke emotions such as attachment and grief. Nostalgia and melancholy originate from something that is lost; something that belongs to the past but manages to viciously rearrange itself into the present.
I aim to represent objects that even though once real, they are reduced in the present to a misshaped version of themselves. I only work from my personal struggles and perceptions, using textiles as an instrument for narrative and as a metaphor for longing. I think that a good way to create a tangible story to the viewer is to juxtapose the narrative with textile surfaces. Material reproductions in my work are a result of the abstraction of memory.
